Polarizer for metabolic preclinical research

MagniKeen builds compact polarizer systems for producing hyperpolarized metabolic molecules quickly, automatically, and close to the point of use. Our technology is designed to make advanced metabolic research more accessible, flexible, and cost-effective for laboratories working in cell, animal, and translational studies.

Magnetic resonance is a powerful method for metabolic research, but its low sensitivity often limits broader application. Hyperpolarization addresses this challenge by boosting signal levels and enabling studies that can support preclinical and clinical research, including cancer-related investigations.
Today, technically advanced polarization systems are still expensive and not widely available. While DNP remains the established standard, methods such as PHIP offer the potential to expand access to hyperpolarization through more affordable and scalable approaches.

MagniKeen provides polarizer device and chemical precursors for the production of hyperpolarized metabolic molecules. The system is based on parahydrogen-induced polarization with side-arm hydrogenation, enabling efficient preparation of hyperpolarized solutions for research applications.
In this process, a precursor molecule is hydrogenated with parahydrogen in an organic solvent, followed by pulse-sequence-driven polarization transfer to heteronuclei such as carbon-13. The side-arm is then cleaved, the solution is purified, and the final sample is adjusted to the required pH for use.
The platform is designed to support a range of metabolites. MagniKeen can supply proprietary precursor molecules on demand while also remaining open to compatible precursors from other vendors, giving researchers more flexibility in experimental design.

The polarization workflow is designed to be simple and fully automated. Users load the precursor solution together with the required cleavage and adjustment solutions, then start the process at the push of a button.
The system performs polarization, processing, and self-cleaning automatically, allowing fast turnaround with total cycle times of only a few minutes. This supports routine use in research environments where speed, reproducibility, and ease of operation are important.
Our polarizer is built around flexibility, speed, and practical deployment. The system is designed with an open architecture, supports modification of pulse sequences, and is intended to remain adaptable as new metabolites and workflows emerge.
Researchers are not restricted to a closed precursor ecosystem: proprietary precursors are available, but the platform is also designed to work with compatible third-party precursor strategies. Combined with a compact footprint, low stray magnetic field, fast dose production, and a more affordable approach than many existing systems, this makes MagniKeen especially attractive for research-focused users.
